Sojish: Hello
Arun: Before you meet Amal and the singles, Amal alerted you that he is going to shed your blood, how had you faced it?
Sojish: Game plan against Amal was very simple . Amal is really good at spinning the ball and he is a thinking player. To force him to make errors , I increased the pace of my serve and returns .
Sojish: I didnt even spend time between the serves , because that would give him time to make a plan.
Sojish: By gods grace , everything worked in my favour.
Arun: Before you take off for Doubles, you have mentally overpowered Amal,
Arun: do you think that is going to help you out? Keep in mind Ajin and Vinoy were the finalists in the last series…
Sojish: A win against anyone is motivating .
Sojish: but a new game is always a new game .
Arun: Ajin and Vinoy were not really new to game. They have been playing together for a couple of years? Do you suspect a lose?
Sojish: I’m won against Amal . Now , its me and Agni against Vinoy and Ajin . Totally new game and totally different game plan.
Arun: What do yo think the grey side of Vinoy and Ajin which you guys are going to exploit?
Sojish: Ajin already lost in singles in first round . I guess , that’s still ringing inside his mind . A doubles team is as strong as its weakest member. I’m sure Ajin would be marked by Agni today.
Sojish: Vinoy … hmm …. smart player . But the combination is not effective against two attacking players like me and Agni . Remember , we only won games in this tournament.
Arun: Both of you guys had won the singles, but this is the first time you team each other, does this combination factor go to work out in matter?
Sojish: I was very happy , when Agni chose me as his partner . We work together , we play together . We both communicate easily without words because of our association in work . I knew that we are going to rock and roll .
Sojish: Its the “lets kill them” attitude that we both share .
Sojish: Our opponents would have to face our aggression.
Arun: So is it going to be massacre of the expected finalist’s?
Sojish: Massacre of us ?????? no chance .
Arun: I meant to say Ajin and Vinoy…However best of luck guys

Poornam 23 June 2007: Ajai & Prahlad team made a remarkable start today against Sayuj& Rashid by 2-1. So expected Sayuj & Rashi team were crashed out from Cup of Life and Ajai’s team will meet Kichu and Anz in the second round. On their success, Ajai and Prahald speak a bit.

Nevil: Good Evening Winners
Nevil: First of all let me congratulate in nomine Bobsports on your sparkling win.
Prahlad: Thank U
Nevil: Well..how do you feel after this big entry to next round?
Prahlad: Offcourse we feel gr8 after wining. Before we begin, we had our game plan like we don’t have to look who is playing against us. My god am giving great fundaa now.
Prahlad: ajai ur turn now
Ajai: I felt like Sayuj was in tensions and we exploited the chance.
Prahlad: Yes that was also a point .
Nevil: Just like Gilchrist to Ausies, Ajai have given a blasting start, were this a planned attack?
Prahlad: ohhh Gilchrist …. kool
Ajai: Not exactly . balls were easy to play so I took advantage of it.
Prahlad: Yes Yes Offcourse … We were in attacking mood

Nevil: What went wrong in the second set?
Ajai: we changed the place ;-)
Prahlad: Yes he is right. We changed place.

CRE’s Strike the Board: 3 matches 3 Wins

Poornam 22nd June 2006: The 5th Day has done with complete surrender to Cre team. In the direct sets Nijoy beat Anoop Antony(21-14, 21-17) Vipin beat Sooraj (21-7, 21-13) and in doubles Arun&Vipin beat Abhijith&Winston (21-12, 21-15)

Anoop was really struggling against Nijoy to return and countable smashes were simply unanswerable. In the second set, although, Anoop tried to come back, Nijoy closed the set with an easy pace.

On another singles, Vipin made an easy door to second round. Although his performance was not on par with his usual stats, he won the sets without much discomfort.

The full hand over the table continued in doubles and Abhjith-Winston team could not even think about a chance. Arun’s magical serves and defense mode made the opponets confuse and fall in to more mistakes. On the other side Vipin was on his speed game and could win more smashes.

In the next round Nijoy will meet Jinjo, and Vipin, Brijesh Balan or Abhijith, In doubles Arun& Vipin will meet Wasim-Suresh team.

Before the first and crucial match against Tittu and Madav, Geo and Lal reveals their plan with Bobsports:

Arun: Since that last Cup of Life, your performance have been improved alot, and Geo is in Top 10 seeds, Lal is going to be seeded soon…How do you evaluate, the present performance and the first match?
Lal: It will be a tough match, but we have improved a lot …
Geo: we have a good chance…..We will play our natural game………attacking…+ defense…..a mixed tactics
Lal: Yes .. we have a game plan .
Arun: Titu and Madav is going to be the first big wall before you. How will you tackle this critical stage?
Lal: We are not focussing on our opponents. We focus on game
Lal: Of course they are very good players.
Arun: So do u think Tittu & madav is going to be a no matter for you?
Geo: We respect both the players…But we are well prepared for this match…..We’ve studied their game …and realized their weak points….In fact we’ve developed a special game plan for them…
Arun: Alright, now Ajin’s crash out was big surprise, shall we expect the same from you? Will Maddy and Tittu will be out in the first match itself?
Lal: This is game… We can expect anything .. Bangladesh beaten India in the World cup ..

Arun: After the Silpi’s win a slow game has been may be a Silpi Effect has been followed in concecutive matches, Even geo has not been as quick against Renju as geo usually paces, Are you going to use the same in upcomin matches?
Geo: this will be a special game for us….
Lal: Lot many people get tensed when they play official matches, and they do not play their natural games. We are going to play our natural game.
Geo: We will play according to the strength of oppononets….:)

I was tensed during my first singles match while playing with Linto Paul , because I was not sure how does he play … But I got through that match with good seed score .

Now Im looking forward to play with Madhav , I feel a little confidence and I wont give up … I will fight till my last drop sheds …

Slow and Steady Wins the Match: Silpi the New Sun

Poornam: (2007-06-19) Amazing, simply amazing, Silpi won the first round having beaten the second seed Ajin by 2-1. It was all about patience and accuracy and consistency is the name of the game.

On the second day of Cup of Life 2007, Ajin was beaten by Silpi. At the start of the match, it was Silpi who surprised the runner up of last cup of life series. Ajin, who expected a cool move to second round had really struggled to play on his usuall pace.

Silpi with his out standing patience, took the control over the match except for the second set where Ajin won. “It’s my first match, it’s very, very cool,” Silpi said. “I played a great match today. It’s amazing I’m very happy.”

In the second round he will meet either Lal or Tharun.

On his assessment on match Sojish, a veteran player said ” “I think Silpi played really, really well, In the second set I thought Ajin was about to make a come back.”

“Ajin would not have played in Silpi’s slow pace. He should have played his usual game.” He added.

However it’s just a note to the top seeded guys, “You have a real opponent with ultimate patience”

Best of the Best… : Vinoy / Madhav Win Doubles..

The strong take from the weak and the smart take from the strong.

At last we have come to the grand ending of Ping Pong 2006. Winners.. losers… Winners went through , losers slipped… We expected a great match and it indeed was an eye catching one.

Finals evening kicked off with the outstanding Singles Finals. Singles was
followed by doubles finals between Rai/Amal and Vinoy/Madhav.
Rai/Amal team did amazingly well to reach the final stages, but found the
opponents too strong, going down in 3 sets.

In the first set of the Men’s Doubles Finals, Rai/Amal made a fast start
against Vinoy/Madhav, taking the first few points. But Vinoy/Madhav fought
back hard, grabbing the initiative and playing more aggressively and
eventually winning the set by 21-18.

Amal had been giving morale boost to his team mate all through the match. An
upset looked possible when Rai/Amal took the first few points against
Vinoy/Madhav but it turned out to be a carbon copy of first set losing the
second set by 21-17.

Last set was virtually a one sided match.Amal and Rai ran out of weapons and
opponent took the advantage of it. At last Vinoy and Madhav had an easy win
beating Rai/amal by 21-7.

When the curtain falls ..

Poornam, 15th August : The one week long blast was brought to an end by the Prize distribution ceremony held at Poornam Food Court. The Core team members Mr. Lijoe Chakiath and Mr. Blessen Cherian were chief guests for the event. The absence of the three directors Amar, Sangeetha and Kishore who have the real passion for the game, was noticed by everyone present, and even specially mentioned by Sindhu while compering.

Lijoe looked a bit surprised to when he was asked to talk few words on the occasion. Anyway, he mentioned the great wok done by the organizing committee of the game. Also, he specially mentioned the doubles final, where Amal and Rai fought with their best of team spirit and strength , eventhough they had to give up the cup of life.

On Blessen’s turn, he was very appreciative about the events and again a special mention to the organizing committee, especially Retish , Nijoy and Arun who managed to make the first sports event of Poornam a very big success.

While giving the vote of thanks, Retish didn’t miss out anyone. From the players to the spectators, sysadmins, Ping Pong reporters, Photographers ..

The great Ping Pong dhamaaka came to an end, when the

Winners and Runners up received their trophies from the core team members amidst the

cheering applause from the spectators.

Rally of Wins to Ultimate Culmination: Vinoy Bags Cup of Life Singles

Poornam, 15 Aug, 2006: The developer, playing an unbeaten game throughout the series in the first Ping Pong Dhamaka, Cup of Life 2006 claimed the Champions Title, by beating the second seeded Ajin in the direct sets (21-4, 21-17, 21-10).

The top ranked player in Poornam, by winning the third set against the opponent, extended his winning streak on the board to 13 sets. He gently started with clear cut point lead and slowly picked up the pace, formed as storm, committing just few mistakes on the way to wrapping up the game just in 40 minutes.

Although Ajin made a get back in the second set, it was not enough to block the mighty smashes and well planned placements. He never loosened the grip in the third set and ruthlessly ended up the contest.
